Harwell Village started this game on zero points and a poor performance from the previous week. The team was set up to defend well and use the pace of JR and Johny Pearce to counter attack. As predicted Wootton started the game putting pressure on Harwell with direct play and with good pace. Alan Burtrum,Andy Whiting and Michael Rouse showed to be a hard pack of players to beat in the air and the confidence in the team around started to show. As the game went on the front 2 started to get a bit of room and chances came as eventually we were awarded a free kick and Matty Aplins quick thinking nestled the ball in the back of the Wootton net.Wooton reacted well and within a short time equalized which was disappointing because Harwell were defending well.
The second half started the same with Wootton pushing the game and Harwell looking dangerous on the break. As the game went on another free kick was awarded to Harwell and up stepped Matty Aplin, the shot was accurate with power maybe the keeper should have done better but the luck was on Harwell's side. All the pressure then came from Wootton but the long throw and big ball in to the box played in to the hands of the Harwell back line. Substitutions were made. Fuller was replaced after a good game in midfield and JR was replaced by new player Ian Rose. The game moved in to the final stages and Harwell started to break first with Johny Pearce who came close and finally Ian Rose who broke away and finished well.
The first 3 points for Harwell Village and well deserved but all thoughts now turn to Farringdon. Well done to you all.
