Another local derby at the Rec following last weeks first team game v the Casuals , this time the Reserves taking on Harwell International Reserves which resulted not only the same score line of a 1 0 home win but also the goal coming about the same time mid way through the first half.
The Reserves fielded four new signings in Andy Rolstone, Tom Pickering and the returning Martyn Luker and Gareth Bertram so it was a very experienced looking side that took to the field against a much younger looking Inter team. As you would expect it was Inter who made the early running and it was a little bit against the play when Neil Smith spotted the keeper off his line and lobbed him from the edge of the penalty area and despite the keepers drastic efforts he couldn’t prevent the ball ending in the back of the net. This seemed to give us a lift because from then on it was a much more even game although it took a couple of good saves from Tom to keep the scoreline at half time. The second half was much of the same with both teams trying hard without really testing the keepers but a satisfying result never the less.
